One for all cases: MBA800 rotary paddle series measures in all bulk solids

Press

Quickborn, February 2020: At the SOLIDS trade fair in Dortmund (April 1 - 2, 2020, Hall 6, Stand R15-6), industry experts will be presenting their technologies and solutions for granulates, powders and bulk solids. The specialists from MBA Instruments will provide detailed insights into their wide range of products for level measurement and will focus on the innovative MBA800 rotary paddle series: The device series combines the conventional measuring method of the rotary paddle with the modern drive technology of a stepper motor. This measuring method offers numerous advantages for users - such as the ability to be used in different types of bulk material. The MBA800 series is also ATEX-certified.

With systems that are both robust and flexible, MBA Instruments is setting the course for faster and improved production processes. More sophisticated measuring methods not only increase precision, but also create a wider range of applications. With the MBA800 device series, the Quickborn-based company is meeting this demand: thanks to a change in technology within the measuring process, which has been tried and tested for decades, only a single system is now required for goods for which different measuring processes and device variants were previously used as compromises.

The stepper motor as a driver of innovation
The MBA800 rotary blade series sets itself apart from conventional models primarily through the use of a patented stepper motor drive with integrated magnetic slip clutch. The polarity reversal of the electromagnets in the motor drives the shaft forward step by step. Unlike synchronous motors with mechanically moving parts, stepper motors offer the advantage that their functions are not affected by vibrations. The entire series is insensitive to shocks, as confirmed by a vibration and shock test at 29 G - opening up new areas of application that would have been unthinkable with the previous rotating paddle detectors.

Measurement even in explosive environments
When developing the MBA800 series, use in potentially explosive atmospheres was also taken into account. The completed type examination in accordance with ATEX officially confirms that the rotating paddles can be used in potentially explosive dust atmospheres. They comply with Directive 94/9/EC as well as the basic health and safety requirements of EN 60079-0:2012 + A11:2013 and EN 60079-31:2014.
